Bikaner is a city in the north Indian state of Rajasthan, east of the border with Pakistan. It’s surrounded by the Thar Desert. The city is known for the 16th-century Junagarh Fort, a huge complex of ornate buildings and halls. Within the fort, the Prachina Museum displays traditional textiles and royal portraits. Nearby, the Karni Mata Temple is home to many rats considered sacred by Hindu devotees. Itinerary

Stop 1 : Junagarh Fort Built in 1594, Junagarh Fort is built by Raja Rai Singh. Covering a land of about 5.28 hectares, it resides in the Thar Desert. The temples, palaces, and pavilions are an important part of this fort. It is one of the forts you cannot miss visiting.

Stop 2 : Rat Temple The famous 600 years old temple is situated 30 KM from Bikaner in Deshnok.It is also know to Karni Mata Temple.This temple is dedicated of karni Mata, An incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple has huge intricately carved silver gates which were donated by Maharaja (King) Ganga Singh. The most interesting thing about the temple are the rates who scamper freely within precincts. They are regarded as sacred and are fed by priests & devotees owing to the belief that they will be reincarnated in the family of the goddess. These are holy rats are called Kabbas, And many people travel great distance to pay their respects, The temple draws visitors from across the country for blessings, as well as curious tourists from around the world.

Stop 3 : Camel Breeding Center National Research Centre on Camel was established in 1984 by the central Government under Indian Council of Agricultural Research at outskirts of Bikaner city to promote research and development on camels. It is located about 8 KM from Bikaner city.The farm extends over 2000 acres of semi arid land is managed by the central government. The camel corps of Bikaner were a famous fighting force during the “Raj” & are still an important part of desert warfare and defence. The Border Security Force (BSF) uses camel for patrolling on the Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan sector.

Stop 4 : Lalgarh Palace Lalgarh Palace is an imposing red sand stone palace, was built by Maharaja Ganga Singhji im memory of his father Maharaja Lal Singhji in 1902 A.D. This oriental fantasy designed by Col. Sir Swinton Jacob, is entirely a hybrid architecture- a mixture of different elements of Rajput, Mugal and European styles and can be categorized as Indo-Sarcenic style. The Rajput exterior of this palace contrasts dramatically with the occidental décor within. The intricately dexterous carving on red sandstone is a hallmark of great craftsmanship.
